10 years since we bought my grandfather’s barn and boy has she come a long way 🤩
We bought the barn that my grandfather built from my Uncle John and Aunt Olga exactly ten years ago and it was a day of excitement and scrambling. We drove down from DC where we were living, desperately calling insurance companies because we didn’t realize you needed to have insurance before purchasing property (oops 🙆🏻♀️). We finally found a carrier that would cover ‘an empty barn- but one that we want to get married in- and maybe rent out to others?’ We got to exchange the keys with my aunt and uncle, sign the paperwork together, and share a glass of bubbly to celebrate. So much anticipation, optimism, and hope on that day 🎉.
Less than four months later, we named her Overlook, renovated her, and had one of the best days of our lives getting married inside that barn. 💍
We plan to celebrate our 10 year anniversary this August at Overlook and I like to think that - because I have a venue that’s already renovated and ready to go- I’m ahead of the curve for planning it (despite having no actual plans yet 🫣😅).
